This was Barnsley’s second best ever win over Swindon, narrowly failing to match their 5-1 success in 1990.
Barnsley conceded the first goal and came back to win for the second time this season. They also did it twice last season (at Crewe and v Bradford)
Barnsley have conceded the first goal in five of their seven league matches so far this season.
Barnsley conceded an own goal for the first time in over a year. Martin Cranie was the last to put through his own net at Yeovil in August 2014.
Lewin Nyatanga is the first Barnsley player to score for both teams in one game since Chris Lumsdon on New Year’s Day 2003 against Northampton.
11 of Barnsley’s last 13 goals in all competitions have been scored by Marley Watkins, Lewin Nyatanga, Conor Hourihane or Sam Winnall.
After going seven home matches without a first half goal, Barnsley have now netted three in two. Watkins 22nd minute equaliser was the earliest the Reds faithful had seen their team score at Oakwell for nine games.
Barnsley netted twice at home in the league for the first time this season and bagged two first half home goals for the first time in 14 games. Last December was the last time they managed such a feat.
Barnsley fell behind but then led at half time for the first time since December 2012.
Reece Wabara scored a 30-yard screamer to put The Reds in front just before the break. It was his firstgoal in 10 months and only his second in nearly three years.
For the first time this season Barnsley had more than two shots on target at home in League One (5). Four of them resulted in goals with the other hitting the woodwork for Hourihane to net the fourth goal.
It is the joint highest number of shots on target that Barnsley have had this season. They also had five in the 3-2 win at Millwall.
This victory moved Barnsley back into the top half of the table. They are the only side in the top half with a negative goal difference.
Barnsley have 11 points from seven games now this season, one more than at this stage last year.
Barnsley and Swindon are now level again at 17 wins apiece against each other.
One side has scored at least twice in each of the last seven encounters.
Today was Swindon’s first defeat on the road for seven matches going back to April.
It was the Robins’ heaviest defeat since March 2014.
