Finally after 63 games, 12 draws and 51 defeats, Barnsley won a Championship game in which they had conceded the opening goal.
Incredibly it is the first time in ELEVEN years they have won a Championship game when conceding first in the second half. They last achieved this feat at Blackpool in December 2009 when after a Charlie Adam penalty had given the hosts the lead after 72 minutes Bobby Hassell (85) and Andy Gray 89pen) secured a 2-1 Barnsley win.
Valerian Ismael has now won five of his first eight games in charge, the quickest a Barnsley manager has reached five wins since Paul Heckingbottom who won five of his first seven.
Barnsley have won twice on the road in the Championship now in 2020-2021 (from eight), it took them twice as many (16) to register two victories last season, failing to do so until February.
This was the first time Barnsley have won a Championship game this season in which they have conceded a goal. Each of their four previous victories were accompanied with clean sheets, indeed this was only the second of Barnsley’s last 11 wins that have not been accompanied with a shut-out, the other also being a 2-1 away win, at Brentford on that dramatic final day of 2019-2020.
Victor Adeboyejo started a league game for Barnsley for only the third time and first since March 2019 at Doncaster.
Scott Hogan had given Birmingham the lead, his fourth goal in six appearances against Barnsley including in each of the last three.
Birmingham scored from open play for the first time in six outings but have now won only three of their last 29 Championship matches.
They have won only two of their last 16 home Championship matches.
Cauley Woodrow grabbed the equaliser from the penalty spot – The Reds have scored four league goals from the spot this season (all by Woodrow)- double the amount from 2019-2020!
Barnsley have not missed a league penalty since Oli McBurnie failed at Birmingham in February 2018, scoring nine in a row since, eight by Woodrow.
Barnsley have only lost one of the last six league games in which they have scored a penalty (W4 D1 L1)
Ismael made history last night by becoming the first Barnsley manager to ever make four substitutions at the same time.
This was Barnsley’s first Tuesday night Championship away win since October 2017 (4-2 at Burton), they had lost five of eight since.
Callum Styles scored his third Barnsley goal, with Barnsley winning all three games in which he has netted.
Woodrow both scored and assisted for the fourth time in his Barnsley career.
Birmingham’s goal came from their only effort on target, the first time Barnsley have conceded to a team who has managed only one on target effort since Luton in the first league game of the season.
Barnsley have now scored seven league goals in the final 10minutes this season.
Barnsley have lost only two of their last eight meetings with Birmingham (W4)
They have won three of their last four trips to St Andrews and four of the last six.
Only two corners were awarded in the game (1 for each side)

Birmingham manager Aitor Karanka said:
"They were much better than us. It's difficult to understand. In the first half we could not pass the ball more than two or three times.
"I tell the players to be more aggressive and be stronger on the pitch. We needed to create more. It's frustrating.
"We shouldn't arrive to the point whether or not it was a penalty. We should have cleared the ball sooner. We have no excuses."
