Coventry 2-2 Barnsley

Last updated : 20 August 2014 By Rob Miles

Barnsley’s winless away run against Coventry stretched to a 23rd match but the change of scenery brought about by playing at Northampton seemed to bring a change of fortune as The Reds avoided an away defeat against the Sky Blues for only the second time in 11 games, dating back to the 1960s.

Barnsley managed to score two first half goals last for the first time in 38 games!

The 3-2 home victory over Middlesbrough back on the 19th of October was the last time they managed it.

You have to go back to the 16th February 2013 for the last time they achieved it away from home- a 3-1 FA Cup win at MK Dons, and the 8th of December 2012, a 2-2 draw at Leicester was the last time in the league!!

This draw extended The Reds impressive recent run on the road. They have lost just three of their last eight away from home and are unbeaten in their first two away games of a season for the first time in three years.

Barnsley have now started a season with a win a draw and a defeat for the first time since 2010/2011.

Barnsley have fallen behind in each of their first four matches of the season. It is the first time this has happened since the start of the 2008-2009 campaign.
