Barnsley have won nine away games in a season for the first time since the 1999-2000 season when they reached the Play-Off Final and also won nine (10 if you include the Play-Off success at Birmingham) EIGHT of The Reds nine away triumphs this season have arrived in the last 11. Prior to this their only away success was at Millwall in August.
The Reds have also kept five clean sheets in their past nine away outings.
This was Barnsley’s first ever victory against Fleetwood (after three draws and two defeats in all competitions)
A Barnsley game was goal-less at half time for the first time in six matches
Both Barnsley’s strikers were booked, the second time this has happened this season. Both Sam Winnall and Ivan Toney were yellow carded in the Johnstones Paint Trophy success at Wigan.
Josh Scowen scored his fifth goal of the season- all five have come away from home. He has scored nine times for Barnsley, seven of which have come away from Oakwell. His only home goals were a brace in the 5-0 win against Rochdale on the final day of 2014-2015.
Barnsley benefited from an own goal for the first since February 2015 when Crewe goalkeeper Paul Rachubka gifted The Reds their second in a 2-0 win.
The Reds are only two points shy of the total they had after 37 games in the 2005-2006 promotion season. This is also the first season since then they have managed to win more than 17 matches in a season. They won 18 that season to go up via the play-offs, but Barnsley now have 18 wins with nine matches still to play. However they only lost 10 that season and have lost 15 already this campaign.
On the last three occasions that The Reds have been in the top six at this stage of the season they have finished there (1996-1997, 1999-2000, 2005-2006)
