All good things come to an end and Barnsley failed to gain their longest winning run for 60 years with a goal-less draw at Brisbane Road.
However it does mean The Reds are unbeaten in seven league matches, their longest unbeaten run for four years.
That sequence in 2011 consisted of five draws, whereas this Barnsley side have continued to equal the 1980-1981 run where they won six in a row, then drew the seventh. They went on to win the eighth…..
The Reds first half scoring curse struck again, and they have managed only six goals before half time in their past 17 matches.
It is the first time they have failed to score at all in a match for the first time in ten and only the second time in 12.
Reds keeper Adam Davies has now kept six clean sheets in his past seven appearances, conceding just one goal.
It was Barnsley’s 12th clean sheet this season, their best tally since the 2007-2008 season when they also had 12 shut outs.
Last night was their sixth clean sheet on the road this season, their best record since the last time they were promoted in League One, 2005-2006.
Barnsley drew a match for the first time in 20 games, and only the sixth time this season.
It is Barnsley’s second goal-less league draw of the season, the other came at Fleetwood in September.
Milan Lalkovic became the sixth Barnsley player to be sent off this season. They also saw six red cards last season.
At the weekend, Jabo Ibehre became only the second Barnsley substitute to be booked this season, Lalkovic is the first substitute to be dismissed since Dale Jennings on the opening day of last season.
Incidentally Lalkovic was dismissed in the final minute of the game, just as Adam Lockwood was for Oldham at the weekend.
Lee Johnson failed to emulate Allan Clarke in winning his first five matches in charge of Barnsley but he is the first to go unbeaten in those first five since Barnsley’s last promotion winning manager- Andy Ritchie.
Barnsley are now unbeaten in their last four meetings with Leyton Orient, this was the first draw for six.
