Barnsley stumbled to yet another defeat as Poya Asbaghi set a new club record for longest wait for a manager’s first league win.
The Swede has failed to win any of his first 11 league games in charge (D3 L8) – no Reds boss has taken longer to register a victory.
Remarkably they have also NEVER taken the lead in a league game under Asbaghi whilst in total Barnsley have gone 14 league games since they last opened the scoring.
The Reds have lost six league games in a row for the second time this season.
Their run of 11 league games without a win is has been surpassed already this season by a run of 13 between August and October.
Barnsley are also on their longest wait for an away win in a season for 46 years following an 11th defeat in 15 Championship games on the road in 2021-2022.
The Reds are the only club in the EFL yet to win away from home this season with this their longest wait since the 1975-1976 Division Four campaign when it took until the 19th away match to register a victory (at Huddersfield in March 1976) – one of only two away successes that season.
In all competitions they have gone 19 away matches without a victory which includes Championship, Playoffs and EFL Cup, their longest winless run on the road since a run of 20 in the aforementioned 1975-1976 season.
Four of Barnsley’s last six league defeats have been by a 2-1 scoreline, a scoreline that has occurred six times this season (1 win, 5 defeats)
Barnsley have now won only one of their last 27 league matches overall (W1 D7 L19)
This was Barnsley’s first defeat in eight visits to Kenilworth Road, they had won five of the previous seven since a 1-0 League Cup defeat in 1998.
It is their first league defeat there in 11 visits since losing 5-0 in October 1993

Luton manager Nathan Jones said:
"These are a difficult side to play against because they overload the midfield so they don't play with a front man and they can cause you little bits of problems, it's difficult to get a real press on, it's difficult to get a load of momentum.
"First half we were a little bit slow, second half we were much, much better, we limited them to very, very little.
"But a year ago or two seasons ago we would have lost that game, and we haven't beaten them here, so to do that in a scrappy game shows we can dig them out as well."
