Norwich 1-1 Barnsley

Last updated : 19 November 2017 By Rob Miles

Barnsley ended a run of six successive defeats at Carrow Road - this is the first time they have avoided defeat there since December 2000.

They have though now failed to win there in any of their last 17 visits - Barnsley's last (and only) victory at Carrow Road came way back in 1937. (Barnsley's other two away victories over Norwich came at The Nest)

Barnsley conceded the opening goal at Carrow Road for the fifth time in their last six trips.

In their nine away matches in all competitions so far this season they have conceded the opening goal on seven occasions - five of which have occured in the first half.

Of those seven occasions this is the third time they have come back and avoided defeat -  all three games have finished 1-1 (Preston, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich)

However Josh Murphy's 12th minute goal is the earliest Barnsley have conceded on the road in the Championship this season.

It is actually the earliest they have conceded away from home in the Championship since the 7th March when Idrissa Sylla scored in the seventh minute for QPR.

Barnsley have gone 12 away games (all competitions) without a clean sheet, last recording a shut out at Blackburn in April. It is their longest run without an away shut out since going 20 matches between 28th March 2015 and 12th December 2015.

Harvey Barnes has had a hand in eight goals in his last eight Championship appearances (four goals, four assists)

Barnes has also scored in three of the Reds past four matches

Norwich had won 10 of their past 12 league matches against Barnsley, but the Reds are now unbeaten in two of the last three meetings.

This was the first time Norwich had opened the scoring in the Championship and failed to win this season (Had won on all other six occasions)

The Canaires have gone six home league games without victory, their worst home run at this level since 1999 (run of 11)

Barnsley are now unbeaten in four league matches, their best run since December 2016.

They have lost only one of their last eight.

Barnsley are unbeaten in their last four league matches away from Oakwell, their best away run since the 2015-2016 League One promotion season.

Barnsley had 51% ball possession, this follows on from having 52% in their last outing. It is the first time Barnsley have had more possession than their opponents in successive games for 12 months -  last achieved vs Wigan 62% and then Nottingham Forest 61% in November 2016.

It is the first time they have had the most ball possession away from home since the 17th December last year when they enjoyed 55% in the 4-3 win at Cardiff.

Joe Williams collected his fifth yellow card of the season, meaning he will miss Tuesday's match with Cardiff.

The Reds had 17 shots at Carrow Road, the most they have attempted on the road since September 2016 when they had 26 in the 4-0 win at Wolves.

They restricted the Canaries to just two shots on target, the lowest a team has had on their own patch against Barnsley since Blackburn in April who also managed only two.

In contrast Barnsley had six shots on target away from Oakwell for the second successive away game.
