Rotherham 0-1 Barnsley

Last updated : 29 January 2017 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley won their second Yorkshire derby in a week to secure their third victory in four league games and their seventh in ten since the start of December.

This was the Reds seventh away win of the season; five of them have been accompanied with clean sheets.

It is the most away wins they have achieved in a single season at this level since the play-off campaign of 1999-2000 when they won nine- their most ever at this level.

The Reds currently have the third best away record in the division having picked up 22 points on the road. Only the top two in the league Newcastle (31) and Brighton (25) have picked up more.

This victory gave Barnsley their first league double of the season, after defeating the Millers 4-0 at Oakwell back in August.

It is the first time Barnsley have done the double over Rotherham since 1981-1982 but they are undefeated at Rotherham in each of their past four visits (W3 D1)

It was their first ever visit to the New York Stadium- the 166th different Football League ground Barnsley have played at.

This match saw the two clubs who had seen the most goals scored in their matches this season, but only one was netted in this match.

Adam Armstrong grabbed the goal- his fourth for the club. Barnsley have won three of the four matches he has scored in – all away.
