Wycombe Wanderers were held to a draw by a battling Barnsley side at Adams Park.
Jermaine McSporran gave the Chairboys the lead in the 34th minute when his snap-shot swept past Matthew Ghent in the Barnsley goal following a Dannie Bulman free kick.
However, the Tykes equalised in the 76th minute when man-of-the-match Mike Sheron put the ball into the foot of the Wycombe net after a chip from Gary Jones.
Wycombe went back into the lead with eight minutes left thanks to a header by Roger Johnson.
However, no sooner had the Wycombe fans stopped celebrating than the Tykes drew level via leading scorer Bruce Dyer.
His left-foot drive beat Wycombe keeper Frank Talia.
Barnsley pressed on and when Kevin Betsy, who had come on for Anthony Kay, ran clear he looked odds-on to win the game in the last minute.
However, he was bundled over by Steve Brown who was duly sent off.
Talia was by far the busier keeper in the second half as the Wycombe defence struggled to cope with the movement of the Tykes forwards.
Wycombe manager Lawrie Sanchez did not look happy with his team’s performance and the loss of Michael Simpson to the first of a three-match ban was significant.
“Unfortunately it was a very sloppy performance by the team today,†the Wycombe boss said after the game.
“As soon as I saw Jonny Dixon miss the chance in the opening minute I had a feeling which way the game was likely to go.
“Twice we led, twice they came back and they showed good character.
“However, we needed to be far more positive in midfield and should have defended better.
“We still require four more points to be absolutely safe and it is a pity that we could not have collected the additional two.â€
