After losing their opening game of the season to Crawley, Barnsley are now unbeaten in four league matches, their longest run without losing for nine months.
The Reds have managed to emerge from their first three away games unscathed for the first time since 2011 when they went their first five without defeat.
Barnsley end the first month of the season with eight points, it is their highest points tally at the end of August for 11 years. In 2003-2004 they had 11 points from five games.
The Reds had failed to hold a half-time lead for nine games before last weekend; they have now managed it for two games in a row for the first time since last October.
Thanks to captain Martin Cranie’s own goal, which incidentally is The Reds first own goal since Jean Yves Mvoto put through his own net in the final game of last season, Barnsley have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their first six games of the season for the first time in seven years. Back in 2007-2008 they managed to gain their first shut out in their seventh match.
Conor Hourihane has now netted in three successive matches, the first Barnsley player to do this since Tomasz Cywka scored against Bristol City, Bolton and Burnley in February 2013.
It is the first time Hourihane has ever managed this feat.
Danny Wilson revealed after the game that the club have managed to extend Joe Dudgeon's loan from Hull until January.
